1998 Convertible Torch Red
Default Bearing noise driving me crazy.......

1998 convertible, 40K, automatic. I recently purchased this car and now have a "whining/bearing noise" that I cannot locate. Symptoms are: most prominent on acceleration and the faster I go the louder it gets, disappears if while driving I switch to neutral, went through all gears and it is noticeable. Is noticeable when the trans downshifts, does not exhibit symptoms of a wheel bearing or brake noise as you cannot hear it while coasting. Any suggestons would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi there,
Sounds like you have a differential bearing problem, probably pinion or side carrier.
Allthebest, c4c5
