Decided to get away from the hustle and bustle of the Coast this afternoon and headed North to Stone county and Lake TOC-O-LEEN.
The restaurant sits right over the edge of the lake and it's peaceful, quiet and good country cookin'. When we arrived we were the second car in the gravel parking lot and we were given our choice of tables. The owner is a really nice lady and told me she liked my Corvette. Then she told me her husband came home with a NEW Corvette he paid $2700 for back in the mid-sixties when they were newlyweds living in a one bedroom apartment.
She said he kept it 2 or 3 years, then sold it to buy a boat. The fella that bought it had it a week and then totaled it. She said her husband mourned it for ages.
After we paid the bill, she asked if we'd like to feed the fish and got us a couple pieces of bread when we said yes.
We stood on the pier and made the bread last 15 minutes at least, marvelling at the Bluegill, Sunperch, Bass and Carp that came to dine. The Bass were a respectable size and the Carp were huge! At one time, we counted ten of them swimming about.
I took the opportunity to take a few photos of my Corvette by the lake and then we headed home.
It sure did feel good to slow down the pace for awhile and once again I was amazed that I found a Corvette connection - even out in the middle of nowhere.
