Default Water pump color

I just bought a new water pump for my 327 300hp. The one I am going to remove was painted a glossy black. This one came un-painted. Could someone please confirm what the stock color should be? Also, do I need to use gasket glue?

Thanks

Just to clarify... I'm not looking for the "stock" paint number... I just want to know what color to paint it ... black or GM orange.

Don't know about the color, I left mine gray as it came. I did not use gasket glue...no leaks...no problems on my 1967 327/350.

I use Permatex Aviation Form-a-Gasket.

The colour is Chevrolet Orange. Back in those days each GM Division had their own colours.

All water pumps are installed at the time the engine is painted. The water pump casting number may be partially to totally obscured. The fan clutch moutning hub has only four threaded holes. The pump bypass hose and clamps, if equipped, may appear with orange or silver paint overspray.
