I was surfing autotrader.com tonight and ran a CarFax on Stoudt's white 90 B2k Vert....turns out the car has a Salvage Title and they are asking 33k:cry :o

another corvette dealer had a Callaway convertible that was very "similar" to that one S&S... Good eye!!! Did they sell the red convert A/B car yet? #69?
Guys,
I'm not sure so I'll have to ask. What exactly does it mean when a car has a salvage title?
It means that the car was crashed, totaled by the insurance company, bought and repaired (by anyone, including the owner), then sold again. If the car was totaled by the IC, it must carry a "salvage" title. ;)

Oh, so that could be a danger sign? If the car was totalled then that couldn't be a good thing right?
Say if the buyer didn't have access to a CarFax and bought the car unknown to him that it had a salvage title, there are laws to protect against that right?
Caveat Emptor! ;)
caveat emp·tor (k?ve-at´emp?tôr´) noun
The axiom or principle in commerce that the buyer alone is responsible for assessing the quality of a purchase before buying.

BullWinkle - Check it out >>>> http://www.dmv-utah.com/salvage.htm. If you would like to read more, do a web search on "automobile salvage title laws" (without the quotes).

Almost, it could also mean the car has been stolen, flooded, etc. On the car fax it shows no accident history, but that doesn't really mean too much.

33K with a salvage title... I don't think so! Gee, funny they don't mention that! Sleaze balls... :r
As it was so well put - Caveat Emptor!
The Stoudt web site does not list anyway to contact them. No phones or e-mail address!!
What gives? Anyone have a way to reach these people?
We need to get the Callaway production number on this car.
Thanks,
Stan

Good News......I talked to Stouts today....turns out the car has not been wrecked according to them. Said it was a mistake by the former state who titled the car. They have been working to get it resolved. According to them it is a straight car.
