OK.....I'm driving:Steer my C5 from Florida to Massachusetts sometime in late May. I'm thinking about doing the Skyline Drive from south to north. Has anyone from CAC done this drive recently (I was on it in 1971 when I went to Luray Caverns), and can tell me good:upthumbs /bad :nono points, which direction (south to north or north to south) is better, what to avoid, any "must-see's", or anything else worthwhile. Looking forward to a bunch of info from you cruisers out there!:w

It's all good. Stop frequently for short hikes up the mountains. The Blue Ridge Parkway is even better. It is south of skyline drive and parallels Rt 81 also. The speed limit is faster and it's free. Stop at an old inn along the way and hear some genuine bluegrass. Watch your speed. This is not the "Tail of the Dragon"
Enjoy!

If you're going to be near this location.........it's definitely worth seeing! For more information and directions go the "tailofthedragon.com"
It's a really fun, curvy road to drive in your Corvette....the scenery is beautiful and the road is as smooth as a pool table. Don't forget to stop at the store at Deals gap and go inside and buy you a "Tail of the Dragon" embroidered patch!
Watch out for the bike riders....they flat "HAUL A**" on this road !!!!!

do both Skyline and Blue ridge. Allow at least one day for Skyline and several days for Blue Ridge. Did both severasl times in last 2 years. Spring , summer or Fall it is a great run with spectacular scenery. Weekdays are best no crowds. Although it is not that bad on weeksends .Have done both. Enjoy I will do again in the fall for the leaves. Take plenty of pix.
