Mitsubishi has announced that it will be showcasing a pre-production version of its highly anticipated Lancer Evolution X along with the 2008 Lancer compact. Both will be unveiled on January 8th, the second of the Detroit show press days.
Mitsubishi isn't saying much about the Prototype X, choosing to wait until the show instead. They have said, however, that the Prototype X is closely related to the Lancer.
The resemblance can be clearly seen in these two sketches of the Prototype X that Mitsubishi released. The Prototype X looks substantially more aggressive than the Lancer, thanks to the dual hood scoops, large trapezoid grille, and dual exhausts. Mitsubishi says that the Prototype X 'hints' at the production model, but nobody except them knows how much of the Prototype is production ready.
