Default expansion tank hoses

Where does the large hose on the bottom of the expansion tank go? Am putting a '65 tank on a '61 crossflow radiator in a '54 and am getting airlock when refilling.

Fitting on the top of the water pump.

I presume in the fitting on the top center? Is it an elbow, a tee, or?

I have a 62 I am running a big block in.

I am using an original style radiator (with no filler neck) I chose to use an expansion tank (I think from a C2) so I could fill the radiator and also allow a place for the air to come out, This was not my idea but a suggestion from one of our members(thanks dennis Midyear) any ways I made a custom bracket and made my tank the highest part of my system. I just installed a T on one of the heater hose heading over to the heater core. I am also pretty sure I used the suction line (meaning the one going back to the water pump)

I will see if I can post a photo of my set up

I also removed the extra fitting on the expantion tank and welded it close. It was a 1/4 aluminum tube, I am pretty sure its a midyear tank.
