Default 6 Speed Tranny Problem 90 Vette

When I shift from 1 to 2 or 3 to 4 there is a grinding noise as I pass through neutral. Other then that the transmission shifts just fine. This grinding noise happens intermittently. The transmission guy at the dealer said maybe it is the release bearing in the clutch and then said maybe I should install a master and slave before doing anything else. The idea of throwing money at this problem without knowing seems wrong. Any ideas what might be causing this?

There is some good information on the ZF tranny and hydraulic system at this site. http://zfdoc.com

There is a page dedicated to the beelding and testing of the hydraulic system.

Hope this helps.
