Okay, diesel truck owners, I'm looking to get a diesel truck, and I'd like some feedback regarding which brand, etc.

I'm looking for something 4-wheel-drive, 3/4- or 1-ton, with a turbo-diesel engine. I'd prefer single rear wheels, as duallies will probably not clear my garage door opening.

Probably late-90's or early 2000's, based on blue book values (say, $20k or so).

So, what are my options and what makes one better than the other?

Thanks,
Joe

Well - I'm very bias, I have a 3500 Bowtie Dually (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v631/cyal8tr/LeavingBGA-07-31-05.jpg) and am very happy with it.

There's several others here that have a lot more time with diesel trucks than me. I think the big 3 all have great trucks. One thing I will say is to try and stay away from the years when new engines were introduced.

I'm a member of a few diesel forums and recommend that for you if you haven't already. They're a good place to mill around, read feedback and ask questions from diesel truck owners.

Enjoy your hunt and diesel truck when ya get it! :upthumbs
