a tribute to Canadian soldiers KIA in Afghanistan
I've heard some CAC members don't like how some of us Canadians talk up Canada. We Canadians are every bit as proud of our country as our friendly neighbours to the south. So, long story short, if you don't want to see this Canadian tribute, kindly do not click on this YouTube movie. If you don't mind dampening an eye, click it!!

Mac,
That's a very nice tribute to the Canadian soldiers. Thanks for sharing it. Watching it with a dry eye is impossible, and it gave me a sense of pride in ALL the young men and women of both our countries who are serving.
As for Canadians talking up Canada on the CAC? Post away, my friend. I would have more of an issue with one who displayed NO pride in their country, or one whose posts extolling the virtues of their country, included bashing mine. And the only member I recall making a habit of that is no longer a member.
Thanks again for sharing the video.

I agree with Jane Ann, post away.
Besides Canada and the United States are BOTH on North American soil....

Thanks, Mac.
During their relatively short lives, those young Canadians have done more to protect freedom and to help improve things in Afghanistan than I've ever done, or will likely do.
I salute them in giving absolutely everything to the cause.
To those who may object to reading yet another Canadian thread, try to remember who your friends are. It's not that hard...........they're the ones dying beside you in the fight for freedom.

Jane Ann has stated all that really needs to be said as far as I am concerned.

From another thread, but certainly worthy of a repeat here:
Quote:
.........
The U.S. Department of Defense has awarded 30 Bronze Star medals for heroism in combat to Canadian Forces personnel. Some of those 30 died in action.
Many of the others were wounded. These Canadians earned this American medal for heroism fighting alongside Americans. When we recall our own dead heroes, we must remember that these warriors gave their lives not only for Canada, but also for the United States.
Canada is more than a neighbor. It is a close family member with the gumption to disagree with its brother to the south but always there when disaster strikes and America needs help. For that, I salute you, Canada, and extend my respect for the sacrifices given by members of the Canadian Forces.

very touching tribute. What rank system do Canadian forces use as I didn't recognize some of the abbreviations for the rank?

It varies depending on which branch. Which one wasn't familiar?

thanks for the info 67. Our warrent officers are a seperate class, like enlisted and officer are classes. They fall somewhere in between and you can't become a warrant officer through promtion alone. Also Master corporal is not used by us and I didn't recognize Pte as private. Interesting how depending on which branch, the rank of private is replaced with a specialized title. Other then that the ranks are very similiar.
