DIC buttons don't work

This is my first post as I just purchased my 2000 C5 6spd coupe 31k miles, thursday evening. It's a shame the first post has to be a problem because the car is in beautiful shape.

The dic buttons do not work except for the reset button. The tire pressure monitors are in the trunk because the previous owner said they were too sensitive. He did not tell me that means the "serv tire monitor system" warning will keep coming on...sigh...So I just keep pushing the reset to make it go away. Any way to make it go away permanently?

More importantly though, none of the other buttons seem to work. I push them and nothing come up on the dic. I don't suppose there's a simple fix like a fuse or something that will fix this?

I'm still learning how to use the forum. I know what a PM is. I'm just sure how to do it. Is there a place that tells how to use the forum and I just haven't stumbled across it yet?

Anyway, I got the impression he was good. But not this good. I went out this morning for a quick trip to the store and...um...everything is working now. No I'm not a moron. Well, at least not a total one. They did not work last night. Since when did he start making house calls? He could have at least knocked on the door and said Hi.

TPM sensor batteries generally last 5-7 years depending upon miles driven. You are right in that range. I think the previous owner's remark about "too sensitive" was due to recurring tire pressure alarms, and he/she didn't know what to do about it. If that is the case, the only solution is to replace the sensors or deprogram the TPM system using a Tech2. Since your car is a 2000, that narrows things down considerably - the ability to add/delete the TPM system didn't come about until the new BCM was introduced in the 2001 model year.

Although the sensors are a sealed unit, at least one person was successful in replacing the batteries (perform at your own risk):

Regardless of whether you replace the batteries or the sensors, you will need to retrain them upon installation.
