Help! With Diagnostic Code
I need help with a Diagnostic Code.
While driving today I made a Rapid slowdown into a left turn. An Active Handling Code and Warning Symbol appeared. The car drove normally and when I arrived home I did a Code Search which turned up a
"28TCS C1292HC" code. I attempted to clear it and it returned immediately.I did this a couple of times. I even checked the brake fluid level at a suggestion, right at level.
I have searched the GM Service Manual and cannot find that Code listed. My car is a 1999 FRC with Active Handling (JL4)
Anybody have any ideas??

Code C1292 is a fault in the Master cylinder pressure sensor circuit.

The HC means that it is stored as a History code and a Current code,
which tells you that it has happened before and is currently faulting.
I would contact the dealer and see if the sensor is a separate replaceable component.
I can't tell you any more that that, unfortunately.

Thanks for the response.
Anybody have any information on this?
I notice no Brake problems.
Does this imply a Master Cylinder problem?

Yes, it is a master cylinder problem. Or rather on the sensor on the master cylinder.
It probably means that the sensor is over or under the normal output range, either from a bad sensor or a loose or wet connection.
You probably won't notice any problems until the Traction Control System kicks in.

Does anybody know where this Pressure Sensor connector is?
Perhaps I could check the Connection. I did pull the connector at the side of the Master. I think that was only a level sensor.

HI there,
Essentially, this code is telling you that when you were slowing down, the ABS computer did NOT see a building of pressure in the braking system.
Now, in the picture below, you can see that your sensor is located in the combination/proportioning valve below the master cylinder.
You can check to make sure that the sensor is connected, and that the wiring is not contaminated with moisture or rubbed through. Other than that, replacing this sensor usually will repair the condition, UNLESS you were down shifting and did NOT press the brake pedal.

I want to thank everybody for the help. I tried clearing the codes again and it cleared. I arranged for an appointment when and if it returns (I'm pretty sure it will). I have the GMPP and it is covered so might as well.
C4-C5 Specialist I think you nailed it, if It wasn't covered I would just go with your suggestion.

Active Handling Problem C1292 Code
An update on this code and problem.
I brought my car in and parts are being ordered ( nothing definitive was found just some volt spikes? I think the pressure diff assem was ordered).
I have been driving the car and now I'm getting some problems. When the Service active Handling light comes on ( I clear the codes to shut the annoying symbol off), I am now feeling the brake pedal kind of sink soft feeling, if I try to clear the code it won't clear. If I pump the brake pedal a couple of times the pedal hardens up to normal and code will clear. The car will drive fine sometimes for a day sometimes only a mile or so. Braking hard seems to cause it. I never seem to loose any stopping power.
Does this sound like a Master Cylinder problem, Sensor or Pressure Differential problem?
Sure am happy I have the GMPP.
Anybody with ideas??

A way to test the master cylinder is to very lightly apply the brakes while standing still. If the O-rings in the cylinder are leaking the pedal will slowly start to sink to the floor. If you press harder, it will stop.

No, it's does not seem to be doing that. I have a hard pedal then after the Service active handling light goes on thats when the pedal sinks and gets soft. If I press the pedal acouple of times it hardens up and is fine til it happens again.
