Hi -
We have two Chevy dealers here - Daniels Chevyland and Al Serra Chevrolet. I've never had any work done at Daniels. I used Al Serra just a few months ago to replace my ignition module and coil, but each time I've requested estimates they quote more than the book. Last time I requested a quote on replacing the power steering pump on my '96, and they added .5 hour on as time needed to hook up the old reservoir to the new pump. I checked with our own Paul (c4c5specialist) who said the reservoir was on the other side of the engine and did not need to be touched (!!) on the p.s. pump replacement. I think Al Serra does good work, you just have to check what they are telling you. I hate to think they tried to take advantage of me because I'm a woman!! I've heard Daniels does good work, as does the Corvette Center. However, the Corvette Center is very inconveniently located WAY south of town and they tend to be backlogged as help is short. They tend to be higher priced also, but do excellent work. Is your brother's friend a member of a local club? If so there are discounts from the two Chevy dealers available.

Not the best info, but hope it helps somewhat.
