Default HUD Issue?

For the past few weeks I have been noticing my HUD display will get dim than bright as I drive along. This only happens during daylight driving, everything works fine at night.

I looked up how it operates in the service Manuel and it is supposed to have a light sensor. Does anyone know if this is part of the HUD unit? I know about the one on the dash above the DIC buttons and it only dims the dash lighting. The other one on the dash top is for the auto lights on, both of these work fine and have no effect on the HUD.

I have tired using a very bright flashlight around the HUD unit to see if it would have any effect on the brightness but it does not, only happen while driving. I also tried varying RPM’s no effect.

Thanks Steve

There is a sensor, and when driving in the direction of the sun, it automatically brightens the display so it can be read easily in the direct sunshine. The moment that you move out of the direct sunshine, it will go back to it's original brightness setting.
