I have Vett Boy as a Yes. :m
So, what's this about Howard Hughes look? All I can think about is those nasty long yellow fingernails. Haircuts, shaves, how about a manicure? :L

The C3 Vette Registry just had its gathering in Pigeon Forge and they eased down the mountain to run the Dragon.
I was there last week but its just not the same in the truck.
Alas, we can;t make both trips this year.
Pretty sure Im already going the 19th - 22nd of OCt with the New Orleans Corvette Club (ccc-la.com)
But yall have fun, and clean the road up for us when you get done with it!!!

I can see already we will need to make several runs:
1) with me standing on the side of the road taking pics
2) me on the bike
3) me riding shotgun in a vette
And of course, if vettboy has something wild up his sleeve for the Dragon Run, we may have to make a 4th run to accommodate him ;)

The first batch of Malty Brown Ale has been in the bottle for 2 weeks now. I drank the test bottle last week end. It was quite good. The German Hefewiezen is still fermenting but I had a little taste of it when I racked it to the secondary the other day. Yummy.

Who's collecting money...I'd say gas stations mostly...and lot's of it! Ofcourse I've never been bashful about taking handouts if you think you've got more than you need! lol
Really though, there's not a registration fee or anything like that...umm...is there? Never been one mentioned yet and we're not planning anything for the trip that would require people paying up ahead of time. A percentage of sales from the shirts will be going to CAC though. As for the agenda, closest thing we have to one is in the first post of the "action on the dragon" thread.

Looks as though the temps may be mild during our trip. As long as the humidity is low, I can handle it, although I was hoping for some cooler weather. I've just about had enough summer.

Actually, by all reports (until mine at least) Zazzle has gotten the shirt orders out within a couple of days. If you want to chance an order, you've still got a little over a week. I sent an email to their Customer Service dept this morning but haven't gotten a reply yet. ;shrug
Hope they don't drop the ball and disappoint us because this could be a good resource for tees for CAC members in the future.

What kind of times does anyone expect to be getting in?
I should be there around 4-5pm-ish on friday at the latest and will be sharing a cabin that we'd hoped could work as something of a central meeting place, plus give us a location for the saturday evening cookout. I'm thinking of trying to get together around 6-7pm and head off for dinner somewhere if that works for all ya'll, or feel free to suggest something.
Saturday morning 7am start time for getting together and hunting down breakfeast sound good to anyone to kick off the day? There is a restruant in the Hotel/Inn part of Fontana Village, I'd suggest we meet up in the lobby area (kind of a lounging area, not a check in lobby) and have breakfeast there saturday...thoughts?
I'll see if I can get them to give me a cabin number and post that too if I can, otherwise when you check in ask for the cabin for Charlie Redmon and you'll know where to find me...if you don't have my cell number, send me a pm and I'll give you that too.

The sad part of this trip is its farther for me to drive than CF 06' was by about 4 hours. ;LOL Right now I'm planning on being there late afternoon Friday. I checked the UT football schedule and I dont think traffic will be to bad.
On another note: I thought I would have a second tasting of the homebrew I made for the trip. Yum Cool down the left over CF 06' mugs. I hope I have enough brewed up for the weekend. Think 4 cases will be enough?

I wish I could make the TOD, but just one word of caution for those of you who have my cup holders. As my friend found out the other week, a large enough or top-heavy coffee mug (and I mean LARGE) plus enough G force might send that mug flying. Everything has a limit. My friend said he bought the largest mug he could fit in the holder and then acted like he was on an autocross. The result was not good. ;W

The result was not good. ;W
Everyone have a safe yet fun trip!

I think we need a ROAD TEST of Guy's cupholders! :m :L
(Adding another item to my list)
Old Dog, we'll have 2 radios and therefore will have a spare.
Charlie, we're bringing the bum rotors so GMJunkie can measure them with his tool to try to piece together what is the problem with them. Maybe we can leave them up there somewhere in a ditch, I understand the garbage men won't take them :L

How early do you think you'll get over saturday morning? I'd proposed a 7am breakfast at the restruant in the Inn at Fontana Village and didn't hear any complaints...or I did a really good job at ignoring them! So I'm guessing we'll be there from about 7-8ish?
Still trying to get all of the details together but it looks like I can quit watching this tread and say I'll be there. Most likely early Saturday morning if all goes well. Is that breakfast meeting still on?
Normally I make the trip to SC by way of I40 and a couple of times through Gatlinburg, got to try it this way again before the snow hits us. Three times I've been caught in the snow and all three were in the Smoky Mountains.
May be just a bit early for that.............. :) ;)

Black Moon-
A number of people will arrive Friday evening- I'm going to give Charlie (rascal_rascal) a call when we get in. Send him a PM for further details.
We're also planning to get together for breakfast Saturday morning at 7:00 at the restaurant at Fontana Village.

p.s.- Which vette will you be bringing?

Tammy,
I'd love to bring the 63 but i'm still working out the kinks. I only have 150 miles on it since reassembly. So I guess I'll bring the 03. I'd love to meet for breakfast but I'm about an hour away to the bottom of the Dragon. I'll see all of you at the bottom or maybe on the way up.
If anyone needs help or gets in trouble on the way here please feel free to call me.

P.S. I might suggest a 'light' breakfast if you plan on running the 'dragon' hard. I warned my ex-girlfriend the first time I took her up not to eat. Well she did and lost it half way up. Fortunately I pulled over before it was spewed across the mountain. Bottom line is if driven to the max the dragon can definately mess with your stomach. Those early experiences were in a Honda S2000 which was perfect for the dragon. You kept the car in second and ran between 3,000 and 9,000 rpm. I have found it more difficult in the 03 Vette. The gearing isn't quite right and the car's torque can get you into trouble really fast.
I hope everyone enjoys themselves but I have to emphasize causion for first time drivers. Cheers!:D

What I think I might call Fontana Village tomorrow and see if they have a room. What kind of rates did all of you get? If not I'm sure I'll be up there by 9:00.
Also, most cell phones do not work in that part of the country. Service is patchy and you'll be roaming on some podunk provider that I never heard of.

I have a 3 year old bellsouth 2-mile jobbie. I think it only goes up to channel 16 but works well. Do we want to pick a channel now? Sounds like it might be easier to hook up on the 2 ways. I normally use channel 6 sub channel 9 ;)
I'm planning on leaving at 10am friday morning, should put me there around 3-3:30pm

I started with the scratchy throat and sniffles yesterday, but I took some sinus medicine and hoped it was just an allergy attack. No such luck. Today it has blossomed into a full blown "feel like ka-ka knocked me on my butt I'm so sick" episode.
Between the sneezes and sniffles and Kleenex and headache - I don't think I'd BE or HAVE much fun. Poor Jeanie is coming down with it too.
So good luck to all. Take lots of photos - I hope the leaves are beautiful and I know all the Vettes on the Dragon will be an awesome sight to see.

When we got back everyone was getting ready for a cruise, we went and got checked in and got our cabin and went and unloaded. By the time we were done everyone had left, so we just went cruising around. Sorry we missed you Junk, maybe next trip up to the mountain!

Hey Sal, the link worked and looking good, I know the place by the lake, it's not far from Foothills Pkwy and just before the curvy 129 begins, been by there many times but I never stop because if I remember there is a drop off at the blacktop onto the gravel, anyway I try to never drive my Vette on gravel. YIKES!!!!
Did the whole group come back in the dark and the rain on Sunday?
Tammy
I didn't leave in the dark but I came in at 6:30 Saturday morning from Ohio. Left at 10:30 Friday night and got home 1:30 Sunday morning, 1122 miles and a long day. I had just a bit of a quizzy stomach on the first run in the dark. My son did to but he was trying to keep a video focused on the first trip through, not a good thing to try. Hopefully I can share a copy when we get it done, my software would not download his camera format or I would have it now.
Got to put some faces to the screen names and just a great day with great Corvette people. Like the Terminator says, "I'll be back", it is a fun drive to meet fun people.
A yellow Diaper got caught behind me about half way through when I was headed north and when we hit the lake straight away he may have exceeded the speed limit by maybe three times when he went around me, sounded bad.

From the sound of it, I think Phil "got on it" more than I did on the dragon. He went out a did a run after I got back on Saturday. He said the active handling engaged a few times. All I got was traction control kicking in, just once.
