Default Rather be driving....

This past weekend I had an autorcross event about 90 miles away from my house. It was a 2 day event, and I chose to drive up and back each day instead of staying in a hotel. So I loaded up my gear (30 gallon tub and large cooler - people are still amazed at how much room is in the back of a coupe) and hit the road at the time only avid fishermen or golfers are awake.

It is still Kansas, so no hills or curves to play with on the way there. But I did get a chance to go deer hunting on the way up, but at the last minute I swerved and he jumped. I say he, well, because I saw his private parts out the back window as he flew over top. That was pretty interesting to say the least.

Anyways, do I have a point? Sort of. My car is still in the "needing some tlc" stage, and my radio and air conditioner don't work, but I would much rather be driving this car, with headphones and a portable MP3, windows down, 75 mph, 90 degree weather, than be driving most other cars with their fancy working radios and a/c units. The drive was so much fun. The racing was good too (videos to come as soon as I can upload and compress them).

So, thanks for letting me ramble. If you haven't been on a longer trip in your baby in a while, you should. It's nice to reconnect with her on the open highway every now and then.

Ok, so what did I do with those radio and a/c threads I bookmarked....

So I take it you did not get a lot of damage, but enough? By enough I mean it is still going to cost you some bucks (no pun intended), but it could have been much worst.

Oh, sorry. After I read that back I realize that I combined 2 thoughts. No, the deer jumped over the car. There was no connection between us that day. The TLC that my car needs was leftover from the previous owner's neglect (I've had this car for only 6 months now, with a budget of loose change that I find on the street).

Oh, and I forgot to mention that for the whole trip, while cruise control was set, it never dropped below 30 mpg (did I mention that there are no hills here?). You won't see me trailering my corvette to events.

I'm sure all the folks who just got back from CF '06 can attest to that . Hopefully, I can take my long cruise before long.
