CANT OPEN HOOD

I HAVE A 87 VETT, AND IM HAVING A HARD TIME TRYING TO GET MY HOOD RELEASE TO OPEN BOTH SIDES OF MY HOOD. MY RIGHT SIDE RELEASE BUT MY LEFT SIDE DONT. WHAT CAN I DO TO GET IT TO RELEASE.

Try to open it at night after it cools down and "contracts". It's summer, heat expand materials.

Worth a try, have someone hold the relese lever and try pushing them pulling on the side that won't open. It may be just stuck. If you get it open, there is an adjustment on the cable on each latch. Clean the latch and lightly grease each latch.

I couldn't get that tool to work for me.
So After I tried everything on my '88, I took the wheel and wheel wells off, reached up with a screwdriver and unhooked the latch.

I rigged this up to prevent any futher problems:

Check the hood release lever and make sure both cables are engaged properly
- this was an issue on my old '92 once.
- I was able to grab the cabes at the release lever with a pair of pliers and pull them enough to release the hood on both sides

Once you do get the hood open,
- check the adjustments of the cables left and right
- clean and lube the latches and make sure they are working smoothly
