Not according to them you don't. Just called. She said I concerned her because I said I drive it to work once or twice a week so I wouldn't qualify. And I said I might put around 10,000 miles on in a year and that was a big NONO.

What I want to know is what happens if you go over the miles and have to file a claim, do they screw you or will they pay it??

I have not had this happen but my guess is they screw you. They always look for a way out.

My State Farm classic insurance in PA doesn't have a milage limit.

I called my agent today, State Farm's mileage limit for classic cars is 2000 miles a year. I'm not tempting fate for an accident so I switched it to regular insurance so no mileage limits anymore and it's only $450 a year full coverage!

That may explain why my rate hasn't gone down. I told them I drive 2000-2500 a year (which is true) and they told me my rate would be about 1/2 of what it is now. Haven't noticed the change and haven't had them contact me after I sent the form in.

Not pleased.

I went from $160 a year for classic insurance to $450 for regular coverage. Well worth the small increase and no more rules.

if you had agreed value on the classic policy, you lost that when you switched. So, if you total the car, you get book value, which may be significantly less..... or so I am told.

This is exactly what I was thinking when I saw this post. You better call and verify what coverage you now have or you may only have it covered for a much lesser amount than you think.

I'm sure it's book value now but that's a tradeoff I'm willing to accept to be able to drive it without restrictions. I do body/paint work for a living anyway so I'm not too worried about book value, I'll fix it haha.

the other option is look for another classic car insurance company that allows more miles. I know one company I looked at had a 5,000 mile limit, of course now I can't remember who that is. May be worth it in the long run. But if you are in the business, it may not make that much of a difference to you.

Good Luck!

Well I'm in PA and they said their classic car insurance is for going to shows and parades (limited use) only. That's why it was only $160 a year. Good luck to you if your car is ever totaled because they will look at your mileage and if your over the limit there will be problems. I would call another State Farm agent and ask them about the mileage restriction.
