Wachusett Mtn Area Mini Cruise – central MA

This Saturday, June 10, from about 10:30 to 3pm.

The weather should be fine this weekend, so we thought we’d head out to the Wachusett Mountain area, take in the scenery, stop for lunch, and tour a brewery. Anybody wanting to meet up with us is most welcome.

Meeting Place:
Johnny Appleseed Rest Area (no kidding) on Rt 2W…. about 10 miles West of 495… just before Exit 34 (Mechanic St in Leominster).
We’ll be there from 10:30 to 11.

Our plan is to make three stops:

1. Wachusett Mountain off Rt 140 S (Exit 25). There’s an easy paved access road to the top of this small mountain with some great views of the countryside… admission is $2.

2. The Old Mill Restaurant -- we’re going to need a bite to eat. The paved parking lot behind the restaurant is quiet with lots of room.

3. Wachusett Brewery Tour – Take a tour of this fine, local brewery right down the street from the Old Mill… sample their fresh brews.

The mountain, restaurant, and brewery are all within a few miles of each other, and approximately 15 miles from the meeting place.

Bruce,

That sounds like a perfect day!! My husband and I know that area very well and go there several times a year, just because it's so pretty and we like it around that part of MA (we live 15 miles south of Boston). If we weren't already going on a Corvette weekend (160 people) in Old Orchard Beach, Maine (and then zipping over to Shrewsbury on Sunday morning for the Corvettes United show), we would love to have joined you.

Plan another like this in the Fall, o.k.! Have fun.:)

Hi Elaine,

So.... how does one "zip" 120 miles South with a car that's been driving around "buggy" Maine for the weekend... and still look good for the show Sunday morning? Does the Candy Mansion have a water hose?

Guess we'll just have to see how well we can clean!

It's not so much about winning at these club shows...it's the support that we want to give them. There's nothing worse than a club having to cancel/postpone their show. Typically, the rain date doesn't draw as many as the original show date would have. Alan and I are totally committed to attending these shows. If not, we'll soon find there will be none to attend!:)

By the way, the place we're staying in Old Orchard Beach has a hose...we'll clean it up before we leave and hope for the best!
