My Corvette(s): www.67HEAVEN.com | Loud....yes, but not a nice loud lately
Here's why.
The webbing you see is what's inside the gasket. Pieces fell off in chunks.

that can't be normal can it. You've had the car on the road what....... a year now?
I can't imagine having to change out exhaust gaskets every year.
Would there be a reason those gaskets just fell apart like that?

Would there be a reason those gaskets just fell apart like that? | The same reason that a few intake bolts were loose......the bolts into the aluminum heads. Once they loosened up, blow-by took care of the rest. I'm going over everything prior to the trip to Bowling Green.
You can bet that this time I'll be making more frequent checks of all carb, intake manifold, exhaust header, etc. bolts, probably every few weeks. She gets kinda warm under there with 8.2 litres and exhaust headers all fighting for cool air. The bolts just want to get the Hell out of there. | |

thanks for the explanation. I was wondering how those gaskets would get so destroyed in such a short amount of time.

This is exactly why I used ARP locking bolts. When I build the 96 Camaro SS I needed to use the locking bolts as I channeled a head. Fixed it and used ARP hardware, NEVER had a problem again.

Here..Try these.. Rich Lagase turned me onto this little gem.
Made by Stage 8. Jegs Or Summit sells them. The ones shown are what I have. They have a newer model shapped a little different. Them there header bolts won't move with these suckers.. Comes with new bolts and locks.
Cut lose with some sheckels and get on board
