Anyone care to comment on the Z4 Coupe. It think it's quite nice.
Well, I assume that you are not aware that this a Corvette board for Corvette related topics. It is unlikely that you are going to get anyone to comment on BMWs here. Why not post this on the BMW forums?

Corvette's aren't the ONLY only sports cars in the world. Hello!!
Corvettes are the ONLY car discussed in the C6 Discussion area. Hello.

We're amongst friends ,right? Can't comment on the Z4, but I bought myself an X3 last week, and I really like it.I never thought I'd buy a BMW, but I was hooked when I drove it.

Ill comment on the Z4 compared to the C6. I was one of the lucky ones who spent a day with GM at VIR (Virginia International Raceway) A full day seminar on the evolution of the C6 from design to powertrains to chassis setup suspension etc. The culmination of the day consisted of everyone there who participated got to drive on the track (helmets and a professional driver in the pass seat) and I mean really drive these things. They had extra sets of tires by one of the buildings there from all the vehicles. GM brought 2 Porsche 911 Carreras 2 Boxster 2 BMW Z3's and 2 BMW Z4. Along with 8 Corvette coupes (since this was prior to production) including some Z51 suspe pkgs manuals and automatics. Now to the Z4....I think the chassis felt too light in a high speed 180 deg turn. It felt like it unloaded way to fast in around the turn. The shocks felt like they werent in touch with the rest of the suspension. COuld just be a shock issue but once again for the price and what the car is designed for, not what I expected. Engine, very nice and smooth however "THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT" Quick, peppy, off the line, coming off a turn and rolling back into the throttle is felt ok but seemed to hang back unless you really kicked it. Whereas the Z51 (wish they had Z06s there) had more "snap" to it with the slightest of throttle pressure. For pure BANG FOR YOUR BUCK.....no comparison...the vette wins it hands down....I liked the 911 Carrera too, but with a $53K Z51 Corvette with 20K in upgrades it would kick the crap out of the 911 AND youd have change left over.....Thats my $.02
Oh yeah....no lie......only one of the Z4's was running..the other had problems earlier in the week......although Im not saying thats a bad thing...every car breaks....

I'll just move this over to "other cars and automotive" forums, so the discussion of the Z4 may continue :D

Not the ONLY sports cars in the world, but pretty clearly the BEST for the money. Everybody but the Motor Trend editors who get bribes from BMW and Porsche seem to recognize this.

I have some buddies that have Z4 and Z3. Over on the BMW e39 lounge (I have a 540iA Sport too) they are referred as girly cars. MZ's are a different thing.

As far as I am concerned, the ONLY Zs are Z06s!

Strange question by gobmcdeeusa since this is a Corvette Forum but I thought Waterboys response was outstanding without being offensive to the questioner. After all the BMW Z4 is a sports car also. I can remember when sports car drivers used to wave at each other regardless of what brand of car they drove.

Second that!
I know nothing of the Z4 but my little brother bought a Z3. I think it's a pretty nice car, but I wouldn't trade my '94 for it. He tells me that it can make my Corvette eat dust on the windies and curves, but admits it can't keep up on the straights :lou ......I'm not sure the Z3 can keep up on the curves. ;squint: It's a "cute" car, but not a Corvette. :Twist

My sister-in-law just got one, and it is a cute little car.
Not a Corvette, but not a Volkswagen either.
I like the convertable top setup that operates with the door key. Nice ride, a little too small for my liking, but she likes it and that's all that matters.

Well, it looks nice for BMW. The price... I guess it like the mark-up on anyhting that says Ralph Lauren.
:L
I always liked the looks of this BMW better-

I even consiered buying one and yanking the cruddy motor out and swapping it for a SBC tied to a T56...
Although I would never trade in my corvette for the new BMW Z4 M coupe..I like it.
I think the car looks something in the area of an old TVR coupe....maybe a little cobra coupe esque....
If it were priced similair to the Solstice GXP turbo I'd consider one for a daily driver in addition to the vette...(never to replace one)
I do wish they offered SMGIII on it though...if they did I could get that car for my wife....Now that would be a cool way to get the best of both worlds....
PS..I'm not a huge fan of the front side fender crease...(sp) I could live with it or with out...
I'm not in love with that styling element but otheriwse the cars got a different look thats strange enough to be attractive.
If I worked for BMW as a few friends of mind do..I'd order it up as a company car for sure.
