Default 66/Hood Latch

I have been having an annoying problem with the drivers side hood latch on my 66. Every time I take a cruise upon encountering the slightest bump on the road, the drivers side hood latch disengages causing the hood to pop open on the drivers side only. The passenger side hood latch seems to be fine always remaining in the closed position. Is there a quick fix solution to this annoying problem, please help.

Adjust the male part of the latch on the hood. It may not be fully engaging the female part.

Use a very large flat screwdriver. The metal is soft and you could damage it if the screwdriver slips while turning.

Another possibility is that the driver's side female latch is not returning fully after the male portion drops in it.

Check for freedom of movement on the latch and the strength of the return spring compared to the one on the other side of the car.
