Question #1:
When did Chevy/GMC first make a crew-cab (4-door) pickup?

Question #2:
What do you think of the idea of making an extended cab or crew-cab out of a late '60s Chevy/GMC pickup? Have you ever seen a photo of one?

I'll have to agree with the 1973 for the "factory" CC.

There were companys that did conversions for GM prior to '73 to make CC's but the first factory was '73.

See the blue truck on the left in this sales brochure:

Okay, so '73 it is. Now it's time to visualize a '67-'72 crew-cab or extended-cab with a stepside box.

Hmmmmm.

Something to chew on:
Recipe for 67 extended Cab
2 67 cabs complete with doors & glass
1 67 Stepside bed
1 67 front end
1 90's extended Cab truck with a good frame and running gear

tools needed cutting torch, plasma cutter, sawsall or cutoff wheel, welders and grinders and another 4 or 5 years time.;)

BTW I was quite tempted to mount the YT on a S-10 4wd chassis this time around but never came across one for sale with a 4.3

Bob,

Do a search on my favorite Chevy truck site (http://67-72chevytrucks.com). This subject has came up there quite often with lots of pictures of both original conversions and ones done recently. For obvious reasons I'm Basketcase over there.

I haven't had the chance to get within camera distance of that '68 short stepside yet but I haven't forgotten about it.

Wouldn't mind having one of those under the tree at Crimmus.....that would go nicely in the SS....

This was a stock 1964 Chevy c20 3/4 ton pickup. It was streached to a crew cab with three doors between 1964 - 1966 for Stageway Coaches Inc, of Fort Smith Arkansas by Armbruster.
