Gosh since GM is closing factories I was wondering if the rumor of the SSR is gonna be gone for good after March 17, 2006 is ture. Is it? It may be a heavy over priced truck "crossover" but I thought it was really cool.

Thanks Stefan. The SSR looked but was killed early in life by an underpowered 390hp V-8. Late in life came the better one. I will miss this. Just like those old-school Ford and Chevorlet "crossovers" in the 1960's

The biggest problem with the SSR is the pricing. If they would have built a model that was affordable it would have sold like hotcakes.

That plant has been down for 32 of the last 50 weeks, and in spite of that, there's still a 500-day supply of them in the field. Between the apparently GM-patented policy of not getting the right engine in any new product until its second year and its ridiculously-high price (further aggravated by greedy dealers adding $10K to the MSRP), the SSR was virtually "dead on arrival". :eyerole

Yeah that was right. I just don't get how GM puts a Vette engine in the "dead on arrival" cars (i.e. GTO,SSR, TB SS) and somehow they are still here (not the SSR though):eyerole

The GTO is dead in the water, too...
