Good to know you will be there. I am looking forward to meeting you. I have enjoyed your posting.

This show is gonna be bigger than the fall show and probably the BEST show in 25 years!

Likewise!

I know this show should be great the new owners have been working really hard at turning it around! I've dealt with Bob Ashton the show manager through the process of registering for this show. He has been great to work with. I met him personally at the fall 05' show and can tell he is doing everything to build this show back up into something GREAT! They actually had TV coverage from 2 stations Fox32 & I think NBC 5 on the early morning of the last show as well which I was able to take part in (my car was in the back ground ha ha) Either way it was a blast, alot of work in preping the car of course, but it was worth it. This time I will only have the car for the display I will not be entering it in the show. But it's alot more work trying to setup a display since this will be are first time out so I know I will be learning some things..

Bob Ashton is a super guy. Only spoke to him by phone but already know he is a "Car Guy"! Told me he has never seen a CE with the Torch Red interior. He is looking forward to seeing mine in person.

Did you get a copy of the footage of the news report?

Make sure you bring everything you need on Friday when you are setting up your booth. There really aren't any stores near McCormick Place you can get last minute items.

What is your buddy's name? What color is his Vette?

This show might be the best show of this year!

I will keep an eye out for you.

I hope so, because last year Spring was not as great as hyped, but I still had fun. Stopped by to see Rick a couple of times and he was always away from the car. Am looking forward to a bigger and better show this year.

Been to the Milwaukee, Mpls, and Detriot shows so far and I have to say that this year's shows are better than last year. Look forward to catching up with some of you guys on Saturday or early Sunday.

The company that bought Chevy Vettefest did not run last year's Spring show. The first show they ran was the Fall 2005 show. At least, that is what I have been led to believe. Several of my friends went to the Fall show and were really excited about it.

I am really looking forward to this Spring show. I believe it might be the best one yet!

Rick: It should be easier to find you because you'll be there as a vendor! Hope the show exposure will bring you business. I was in the trade show business in a past life and understand the cost involved in making a presentation. Will look you up on Saturday to introduce myself & my bride. Maybe some of the Chicago Crew will be there so we can press some flesh! Marv

Good Deal!!! I'm putting the final touches on my display though I'm sure it will not be quite done as there is always something I can do different or better...

It was nice meeting you today, hopefully we will get a chance to talk some more tomorrow. I had to run back home to get Theresa's car back down there and the weather and traffic both sucked..

Had a great time today at Chevy Vettefest!

Met Rick Anthony yesterday for the first time. Rick is a great guy and knows C4s and C5s as good as anyone out there!

Met Marv from Tomah, Wisconsin. Another great fella. Hope you got your hood home OK!

Dave, thanks for checking out my Vette. Sorry I missed meeting you. I know how time is precious. We will just have to make some time to meet in the future.

I met a bunch of folks I know from some Cruise Nites around Chicago. Everybody was excited and having a great time!

My Vette is located right by the main entrance to the show on the end of a row. Very near to the ORANGE mid-year! You can't miss that one!

If you come on Sunday, please make sure to stop by and say "Hello!".

I ended up going up to the show today and staying for about 3 hours. I met and talked with Rick for a little bit. Here is a link with some of the many pictures I took. I couldn't upload them all so if there is a certain car you want, chances are I have a picture of it. I ended up taking like over 100 pictures so if you have a special request I'll see what I can do. The link should take you to my yahoo photo album. Hope that whoever did go enjoyed the show- I thought it was great! :D

Dave & all,

What I am going to report is the truth! :D

I was standing at the "Peanut, cashew & coated nut" display. I mentioned they were not located in the best possible spot.

The woman taking care of my order said, "Yes, we have been pretty slow today. But, knowing my boss (a young man standing next to her) even if I cut my finger he would probably give me a bandaid and make me keep working!"

The young man replied, "Bandaid? No way! Maybe a piece of DUCT TAPE, if you're lucky!" ;LOL

I could NOT believe my ears!!! I literally cracked up, Dave!

Seems like you really get around! :rotfl

And the saga of the DUCT TAPE lives on!!!

Pics look good!

Thanks to everyone who stopped by the show it was great meeting all of you. I will be doing the drawing this week for the free raffel we had setup there as well. So that will be fun I think we are going to split up the prizes so instead of one person getting everything several people get something.

The best part of the show was getting to meet Rick & his bride! Then next best was meeting Gregory...sorry Gregory but you were upstaged by a good lookin' woman! Tried to fit that big block twin duct high rise turbo hood into the trunk of my little Toyota rice burner...had to cut it in half...(the Toyota), but used the hunert mile ahour tape to put it back together! (Actually, Gary is going to drop ship it to the body shop for me).

I personally thought the show was smaller than last spring, fewer vendors (big names) and swap meet spaces. Mid-America's space had a couple kiosks with catalogs out, but no one there early on Sat am, no Eckler's or Corvette Central - unless I missed them. By 5pm the floor was just about empty of spectators. Lots of club cars, but only 4-5 of the cars going for big points. At least the layout was better with long aisles. A few high priced food vendors and no seating around them for old fogies like me & my wife to sit while we ate. Then the price to park and admission went up, so I had over $60 in it before I even got back to the swapmeet area.

Now that I've vented, it was still a good show as I got a chance to meet a few of you, then met some old friends & vendors that I have done business with in the past. Spent a ton of money on parts, had a great time, and any show is a good one - some just better than others!

Room was bigger, that's why it looked smaller. Corvette Central had their usual display and Ecklers never goes to Vette Fest. I understood that there were over 300 cars there... this is significantly bigger than the fall 2005 show. Everything else seems normal... rape on parking and food. I always BYOF/B

Well Dave...I could have sworn that Ecklers were there last year, but I am getting old and the first sign of that is....well I'll have to get back to you, I've forgotten. Same disease got me when I walked by CC on my way to the swapmeet area. Wife & I already have plans for her to carry the biggest and baddest handbag imaginable at the next show full of the BYOF/B. Even thought about one of those foldup 3 legged chairs that looks like a walking cane. Thanks for the advice!

It must have been those large 2 story raised areas that made it look like fewer cars, but I agree that it was a larger room. You have got me interested again, as I didn't get to the fall show and if this show was actually bigger than the fall or last spring's show, I'll probably give another chance. Heard a rumor that it may end up out at Rosemont next year. If so, that will change everything.

Rosemont would be cool. I didn't hear about that until you mentioned it... much closer to me!

The fall show had maybe 150 cars... maybe. Fall is also notoriously the bigger show... spring most people are still trying to get her ready for the season!

Time will tell... I'm gonna keep going! My goal is to actually show my car in the fall. I need paint wiring and brakes before then. Brakes just arrived today in the mail! 1 down!

I heard it from a local vendor that has been coming for years, so it may be frustration or wishful thinking that prompted the conversation, but it would solve parking issues, show area issues, and access issues, and not to mention...a new venue may be good for this show. As you say...time will tell, but they do have an email for Championship, so we could all send a message...

If everything goes as planned, I may have something entered in the ISCA by then. With the winter show schedule about done, I'll be hitting many local shows, so maybe we'll see you on the road. Good luck on gettin' the brakes done! Marv
