Default How'd you convince your wives?

Alright! I've been lurking on the sidelines reading all the interesting posts that you guys make in regards to the new C6. But I have yet to read how some of you convinced your wives on going along with purchasing a new Corvette! I'd like to hear some suggestions/stories (especially the ones that worked!) from anyone out there. How long did it take? What method of persuasion? Etc. Thanks in advance!

My wife is a Corvette owner herself. She is currently on her 4 different Vette while I was own my first still (for 14 years). I told her it was my turn to have a new Corvette. That was all it took.

we bought our first corvette before we were married and we went on our honeymoon in it in 1959 and our C-6 is #10. i must admit she will not raise my allowance enought to buy a new ZO-6 i even told her i would keep it forever. she said she heard that 10 corvettes ago.

Default How I landed a C6

I spent 4 months surfing the Corvette Forums in the evenings. The wife figured I must really like these cars because I wasn't hitting the usual porn sites. As time went on I planned a roadtrip that conveniently stopped for lunch near a rural Chevy dealer. I had already checked inventory with GM Buying Power and I knew they had two C6s.

On a lark I suggested we take a look at one of the cars. Surprisingly she agreed; full stomach and she had to pee. So after taking care of business she got to sit in a C6. The wife has never really been a car person but the C6 made an impression on her; sitting in the driver seat she said it felt like she was in a spaceship. Not wanting to push things too hard I left without doing a test drive.

A few days later out of the blue (while I was surfing Vette forums) she told me I could buy a C6 if the price was right. Two months later I ended up buying the same car she sat in.

So with a good plan and flawless execution it isn't that hard to get the wife to let you buy a C6

Default Thanks Dudes!

Most amusing and very informative to say the least dudes! Jmess52's subtle yet effective approach seems to be the way to go. Maybe have my wife take a drive in either of my cousins' C-5 convertibles. That might do the trick! Then talk about what I'd like as far as options on a new C-6 afterwards.

As far as JonM's suggestion on cutting up the charge cards; she's actually considering dropping her charge card cause the yearly fee seems to excessive!! I know that she seems like quite a penny pincher, but on other things; like clothing and going out to eat; she has no limitations!

On the other stories, I think you all should feel blessed with "mates" that really appreciate owning what I consider is America's best automotive value! More power to you guys!!

I didn't have any problem. We got our 64 about 5 years ago and have had some great times. So, when my old 98 BMW M3 was in need of some very expensive repairs we just made the decision to replace it with a C6. After looking at the used 2005 models we just waited until the 2006 model hit the street and watched the 2005 prices drop. At that point it was not a had decision because we got a 2005 with about 9k miles on the clock for a very fair price. It was much easier on the bank account to get a 1 year old car and let someone else take that 1st year drop in value. My wife is the one who found our Sunset Orange C6 and we just went that same day and bought it. I didn't have to convince her, she was very much behind getting a C6. The final point that really convince both her and I was the test ride. The car just sold herself, and the price was very fair ($42.5) for a car that had a original sticker of almost $55k.

...... Just try telling the truth!
1. the old car is going to drop in value.
2. The new car is going to go up in value because there aren't many sold yet
3. the new model will hold its value better than an old model
4. The new car is under warranty... no repair bills
5. The new car will use less fuel
6. She will like the new car it's more comfortable and quieter

if all else fails do what she does when she buys clothes, don't admit to the true price, tell her you got it in a "SALE".

Ok ... so I don't have a new (C-6) ... my car is a lowly "5ver" but this may work nonetheless ....

For a week or so look dazed and confused .... all right .. MORE than usual.

Whe she finally asks what's wrong ... just start mumbling and babbling about a mid-life crisis .... "I've been having wild thoughts .... they come and go"

Hold her in suspense for a day or two ....

Finally ..... "OK! .... I'll tell ya'! I have the urge to do something wild, really wild, like having a sorid and tawdry affair with the wildest sex ... or ... getting a new Vett or something!"

What cha' got to loose???? ..
