Default With Tremec TKO600, what would be the best rear gear to have?

Looking at replacing the rear end on the '60 while I am at it....need some advice as to what a good rear gear ratio to have would be....want to be quick, but in 5th gear would like to be economical...ideas?

Anywhere from 3.36 to 3.73 woul dbe a good range to give you want you want. I have 4.10 in my Camaro with TKO600, 3.36's in my Corvette with TKO600 - both work fine but I think the best bet is 3.55's.
Try our calculator to check out any scenario you want:

Here is some other info that maybe of interest to you:

I hope this helps.

Default Depends.....

How quick do you want it to be 1st thru 3rd? 4th is 1-1 and 5th the OD, do you have engine work, lots of variables but lots of choices also. I had a 4.10 with the 4 speed and went to a 3.90 with the TKO 600 from Classic Chevy 5 Speed and for what I wanted it's fine. Do your homework, use the calculator Jeff gave you on his site and it should help you decide.

Herb
strokers typically has plenty of torque so you should be good for low-end grunt power, especially with a 5-speed. If it was me, i'd be considering a 3.08 or a 3.36 rear gear.
With your stroker motor and a 5-sp you should still have a lot of low end torque for "off the line" fun and the higher rear gearing (lower numerically) will make highway driving much more pleasant and help on some fuel economy.
