The one thing I'd have to do to get a new ZO6
So I've been dropping the hint to my wife that I'd like to fill that last spot in the garage w/ a new ZO6. Well, to make a long story short, she said that she didnt have a problem getting the Z but I would have to get rid of the 67.
I've given it alot of thought BUT I dont think I can bring myself to sell it. Its just too classy of a car,and it sure gets alot of looks.
So the brings me to my question, how many of you would be willing to sell off your C1s and C2s for a new ZO6??

I have an 03 Z06.....as well as the '60 and '64.....I have to admit that the Z06 would go before the '60 and the '64....when 2008 comes around, I will have paid off my ex wife....I have toyed with the idea of getting a NEW Z06 to add to the other cars...but $70k or so for a new one....versus spending that same money on a real nice C2....the C2 will hold its value...who knows maybe even go up...but the Z06 has only one way to go...and that is DOWN...I know, I bought my Z06 at a good price and it is worth 25% less than I paid for it...my '60 and '64 are worth what I paid for them...maybe slightly more.....no comparison...
now I asked my better half what she thought about your choice....and she said, NO WAY to get rid of the '67.....in fact she said to me...what would I say? She would tell me that if it is something I wanted and had the money to pay for it and not crimp my life style, go for it.....she has a pretty good outlook on life....her husband passed away from cancer and she knows first hand how short life can be....so life it to the maximum....in fact on our refrigerator is a sign....."we are not here for a long time, but a good time"...also she says, don't look back on your life and regret not doing something or buying something...as long as it isn't immoral or illegal and you can afford it (don't buy things you can't afford)...go for it!!!

firstgear,
I cant believe all the posts I've read of yours and never picked up that you are from Fremont/Norwalk. I'm in orthopedic sales and am in the hospitals in Fremont ,Bellevue and Sandusky all the time. I'd like to help if I can w/ your lift off.Do you know Smitty from sandusky(he rebuilds and works on old vetts in that area)

I have a 67 427/400, too. My wife cried real tears when we traded my last 67. a 327/350 Marlboro Maroon coupe and we waited about 10 years when the funds were right and I sold a property and the first thing she said was, "Go get your 67." She knew one of my 3 all time dream Corvettes was a 67 427/400 a/c coupe. Now that we have it, I'd have to go before she'd let this one get away.
I think you're on the right track with waiting a bit to see where the new Z06's go before you jump in. But I am so obviously biased towards that 400hp tri power beauty, it ain't even funny.
Think about what an absolute piece of history you have with the 427/400 set up. Think about the cool factor...there ain't too many much cooler than the 67 BB. Think about 67Heaven's old banner..the one with the front end of the 67 BB and the caption, "When cool was measured in cubic inches."
BTW, I love the refrigerator sentiment, I'll remember that.
I can promise you that if you let the 67 get away you'll regret it. I did for 10 years. It made me feel like the Happy Days episode when the Fonz lost his motorcycle.....empty and like I wasn't really me.

You have good taste in cars. I waited 40 years for mine. Intend to be buried in it
Suggest you have a similar if not quite so drastic a plan

I sure do want the Z06. I have a fellow after my 62 and if a Z06 was available tomorow I would probably let the 62 go.
I really want one bad after seeing the show on speed vision
I think he was doing 135 in third gear.
We will see what happens comes this spring.
For sure the best would be to get rid of our C5 for it but i will be taking such a beating on the sale of the C5

It's not an option, I would try this on her,,,
Jim,
How do you think it would go over with your wife, if she was obliged to get rid of her favourite pair of shoes, before even thinking of purchasing an additional pair. I wonder if she would seriously consider that as being an option. ?
If you can afford it without disrupting the lifestyle of anyone in the family, for God's sake, go for it.

I have a 64 and there is no way I would sell her for a new Z06. I did buy my 05 a few months ago with full support of my wife. In fact, she is the one who found our sunset orange 05 on the internet. I am just one lucky guy to have a wife that is almost as much as a Vette nut as I am. But, sell a 67 for a new Z06....NO WAY.

I don't have a Z or a C1/C2 but if the two were before me for the choosing, as awesome as the Z06 is, hands down I'd take the C2.
