1959 black 270hp (9/2/69) 1981 Beige L81(10/20/80)
Default It PaysTo Shop Parts Prices

This was for my '69 truck but it also applies to Corvettes or any GM part. I was looking for a brake pedal rod boot and after finding a picture and verifying it was what I was looking for (mine is gone) I went looking. Best price I found was $4.50 from a vendor with one truck site member saying the last 2 he bought off of Ebay were $23. and $27. on the premise that they were rare and not available. They are available repro from several sources below $10. OR you can just go buy it at the Chevy dealer retail for $5.38. If you have them order it in with their regular parts order you can avoid shipping charges in most cases.

Also always check GM Parts Direct
. You can search a good GM number there to see if it is still available and get the dealer price. Here is the listing for this part.

GM PART # 3759198
CATEGORY: All
PACK QTY: 1 CORE CHARGE: $0.00
GM LIST: $5.38
OUR PRICE: $3.07
DESCRIPTION: BOOT

Not a bad price but there will be shipping.

So don't just automatically assume that since it is an old GM part that the dealer doesn't have it anymore or that it costs more from GM. Many times your best buy is at the Chevy dealer.

Also don't buy GM parts on Ebay with out researching them first. Sellers there bet on you just automatically assuming that you have found the only one around and will bid it up high.

Here is a picture of the part. Note that it is not old stock but a fresh part in the latest design GM packaging.

I agree. I see GM parts posted on ebay all the time stated as discontinued when in fact they are still available from GM. It goes the same for major Corvette vendors. I supply one of the major vendors with all their GM parts. These items can be purchased at your local GM dealer for less.

Vry helpful. Thanks guys for mentioning that. Sometimes I forget to look anywhere else other than the Vette catalogs. Always good to have more options.
