Default 65 Roadster Wheel/Tire Size Help...

Without making alterations, what are the largest size wheels and tires that will fit on a 65 Roadster? I'm leaning toward old style Cragars or American Racing Torque Thrust Wheels.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi, I have a 65 Roadster with 15 inch wheels (the fake knock-offs). The biggest tires I could fit on there without rubbing were 215 65s. Another thing I had to worry about was lowering my car. I Have a 427 with side pipes and if I am not carefull I scrape going over speed bumps.

Good Luck

I put Cragar S/S wheels and BFG tires on my 64. I worked with www.newstalgiawheel.com to buy them and went with what they suggested and I am glad I did. I used 15x6 Cragar S/S wheels with 3 3/8" backspacing and P21570R15 BFG tires. I was hoping to go 7 inch wide wheels and larger tires but Newstalgia said I woud have problems, and they were correct. This has been a perfect combo and the price was right. They came mounted and balanced and ready to bolt on the car.

i had a set of 15x8 torq thrusts with 215/75/15 tires on my 65 and couldn't turn the wheels without rubbing, so i went with 15x7's with the same tires...i did have to adjust the rear camber to make sure and not hit the rear fenders on big bumps...know anyone looking for a perfect set of 15x8 torq thrust II's?

Thanks for the info.

Maybe someone reading this will give you a call on the wheels.
