Default side yoke help

on 80 - 82, has anyone had a difficult time removing the half shafs after removing the snap ring? The end of the shafts look like they have been burred, and the shafts will only move out until this area hits the spider gears. Also, the cross shaft (between the yoke ends) is burred. I see the cross shaft wont come out with the ring gear in place. If one unbolts the ring gear, will it slide over enough to clear the cross shaft. I really hate to try to remove the posi assembly. By the way, this got started because I wanted to replace the leaky side yoke seals.....alas, the vette up and bites me in the arse....

Gary,
It's common for the yokes to burr the ends as they wear on the pin. remove the snap ring and I use a long brass drift to drive them out. You can not remove the ring gear without removing the carrier. It is a slight press fit and you'll screw up the pattern if you change anything. I rebuild the 63-79 but I don't like the 80-82 aluminum diff's.
Good luck,
Gary
