Default My 91 corvette came with Hypertech chip, should i remove it?

Hi guys, as i said above my 91 came with a hypertech chip, the guy only had small things done to it like filter, cut filter box, air foil and TB bypass. I heard these chips can actually decrease horsepower, should i think about taking the chip out and just run the stock programming? Also, how is it these chips possibly decrease horsepower or performance?

The Hypertech chips don't really deviate much from the stock program. They usually have the car run a little cooler and maybe you gain some power but it's no where near what they claim.

If the vehicle is running fine, I say leave it in there unless you have the stock chip. If you do not have the stock chip, leave the Hypertech in there if it's running fine.

It can decrease performance if you've had some serious mods done. Those chips are mass burned, generically burned. They're not custom burned to modifications so the CPU would not be able to take full advantage of those mods. On a stock engine or near stock engine, the Hypertech won't hurt it.

Yes, if the car is fine, I would leave it alone.
