Adjustible Suspension Error Code

I tried to find this thread but could not. Very sporadically I get an error code (shows up on the dash info center) that says the suspension needs to be serviced. I have the adjustible suspension. If I shut the car down and restart the message goes away and does not come back. It only seems to happen on initial start, after the car has been sitting for a few weeks. Anybody know what's going on, is it a problem ready to materialize permanently?

I found that my 92 did the same thing before I sold it. I talked with the guys at Bilstein about it.

The self test feature turns the shock rod through it's full adjustment and it is supposed to do that within a limited amount of time.

If the seals around the shock rod are tight or get dry, they can cause this test to take longer than required the first time it is checked. Usually, the codes set are for 'time out'.

Since I had new shock installed when I started noticing this, I chalked it up to tight seals around the rod and pressed on. With older shocks, it could be the first sign of needing to replace them.

Have the codes pulled for the FX3 system and see what they are telling you.
How may miles are on the car/shocks - if they are getting close to 100K, you might want to consider new shocks.

Solution: drive it more - a lot more!

It that case, it is probably not a problem.
However, I'd still pull the codes and see just what it thinks is wrong. If you're getting "time out" errors it's probably just sitting too long between drives and the seals are just tight enough to keep the self test from working the first time.

After a few months of this off an on, more off than on; I tried moving the car to see what would happen, usually my service ride control light would go out as soon as it did the self test of the ABS.

Also if you turn the ignition on 4 or 5 times without moving the car that light will come on. My 2¢ worth "DRIVE THE CAR"
