My Corvette(s): 2006 Z51 Yellow
|
The Fun Continues
I wrote two weeks ago how my 2006, Z51 didn't get me home from the dealer before an oil line came off and dumped all the oil on the ground. Many of you said I was nuts and such things could not happen.
Well I am unhappy to report that yesterday the "reduced power" warning came on and today the "anti-lock brake" warning came on.
This is supposed to be GM's "hallow car"; would you put your wife and children in a new GM car, based upon my experience?
5:30pm Update! My new Corvette just got towed back to the dealer because it would not start in Target's Parking lot. It looks like the car will get more miles on flatbed tow truck than on the road.
I should have kept the Porsche............

My Corvette(s): 1999 White Coupe

I feel your pain.I see Chevrolet is still having problems with quality and reliability.I special ordered a 1999 C5 coupe in June 1998 - the car's build and delivery was delayed by the UAW's walkout.Against my better judgement, I purchased the car new when it arrived and it broke down three separate times while out-of-state, on vacation. It was recalled twice for safety defects. Numerous other defective items were repaired (all under the new car warranty).I still own the car and at 42,000 miles, the fuel gauge still does not work correctly although it has been repaired by Mr. Goodwrench twice according to TSB's.Good luck. The 1999 was my third and last Corvette.

I understand your compliants, my brother worked for a dealership and he used to state that if the american car builders would work on correcting the defect before they got to the consumer like the foreign makers did we would not be forced to buy foreign cars, he wanted to open service dealership only and not sell cars but repair and do warrenty work but the car maker he worked for would not hear of it. so he works on the side. I maybe wrong but I thought that was a good idea, his plan was to have night and weekend repair service. I hate to say it but check your lemon law for your state some are good and some arenot worth having a law on the books, just a thought.

Personally, I think you should ask GM for your money back, give them the car back, and buy a Porsche. Just my two cents....

Lemon Laws only work if certain criteria are met. 30 days out of service for a safety-related item should do the trick!

It looks more like GMs "hollow" car! I have been waiting until the 2006s get some mileage before I make the leap into one but GM has to do a better job of QC.

I have to agree with Greenie. I always shy away from 1st year models. What is the deal with QC on the C6's? My bud just received his yaller coupe. After 1 day he has problems shifting back into 1st gear after coming to a stop. He has to do some jive with the stick before she'll go in. On another friends' his rear rotors leak rust juice down on his wheels after a wash!!.... and as for those "satin" finish polished alum wheels?... I still don't know that I buy the excuse that they are supposed to look that way. We now have three in our club and all of them are not nearly as shiny as I think they should be (just my preference though). Can you say, "jealous" :')

You show good taste in agreeing with Greenie! LOL. As for the "polished wheel syndrome", no one knows what the hell is going on. The C5 wheel is definately more dull than the C4 and many of us have raised the issue. Typical GM response=nothing!
