hey guys is a front 8.5 rim ok with a 275/40/17 tire any help appr.

I think that they would discourage the use of a 275 on an 8 1/2" wheel. Will it fit? Yes, but the sidewalls would probably "pooch" out and be too flexible for good handling. I believe that they say you need at least a 9" wheel for the 275's. For the 8 1/2" wheels 245/45 would be the standard as they are about the same diameter as the 275/40's

Here is a 295 on an 8' rim. I have these on my S10. Decide for yourself.
