Default Gas gauge

I'm looking for direction here about the gas gauge. Twice now since I've owned the car and only after I've filled up, the gas gauge stops working, usually for less than a minute, but a message appears stating to service the fuel system.I've contacted the dealer and they say its from overfilling the tank. I stopped topping off the tank after the pump stops and the problem has not repeated itself. Been about a month now with no repeats.Problem is, dealer says its big job to replace the sensor if I want it done. I believe the tank has to be removed and who knows what new problems that might create.Should I get it done? Joe

Nope. There is a TSB on the float in the tank. This is a known recall.
BTW The fix is NOT easy. The tranny must be dropped to access the tank and replace this float device. About a 8 hour, full day fix per car.

Sorry..
Bill.
