Default Another "what's this Vette worth?" question

I came across a super clean triple black 89 ragtop w/106k on the clock, painted ZR-1 wheels, new tires, electronic climate control, and all the other goodies. The guy who owns it just bought a C5, so he doesn't want the C4 anymore. He said he'd sell it to me for $8500, but is gonna list it for $10,500 if I don't buy it. I think $8500 is a pretty good price. Anyone who has an opinion on this please jump in. TIA.

Rich K

P.S. I already have an 89 ragtop, but this one seems too good to pass up. Am figuring on buying it and maybe trading both for a C5. Sounds like a plan to me...lol

I personally think the price is reasonable, especially if it's in really good condition. If you like it, buy it.

8500 sounds like a great price to me.

You'll have the black and blue twins!

Seems like a fair price. Winter is coming here in Western PA and if it doesn't sell soon, it will have to wait out the winter. As longg as its been properly maintained mechanically, it should work out well.

Best of luck.

based upon the info given, it sounds like a fair price however, w/out seeing pics - I cannot be sure...

If it is a 6-sped then it certainly is a deal however, dreams of trading both 89's for a C5 - well, if it were all that easy, don't you think that Corvette would have already been used as partial trade by the guy selling (who bought a C5)?? Fact of the matter is, trade-in stinks on C4's

There is a 1990 6-spd on a dealers lot, clean car too - for 9k'ish If it is on a big lot for that, I must say there is plenty of room there from where they "bought it" or took it in on trade...

Good luck, whatever you decide

That seems like a fair price for the car. The buy it and trade both of them for a C5 idea won't go well. I'm sure he explored the possibility of trading that C4 in on his C5 rather than going through the hassle of a personal sale. He must've not gotten a good offer for the C4 for him to sell it outright. The C4 market is very low right now.

I would either buy it and enjoy it or pass on the car.

Thanks to all who posted. I got more responses than I figured on, and each one is appreciated. I am to the point that if I can't find a place to keep it this winter, I am going to buy it. My 2 stall garage is full, so I have to look into storage prices. I will try to get some pics, then figure out how to post them. This is no doubt the best site on the net!!

P.S. I liked the one about having "twins"...lol

Well, I passed on it. I figured why have 2 89's when it's a 93 to 96 that I am really wanting?

Rich, IMO, if you're going to go with a '96, the LT4 is the way to go.
