I have a 700 Harley transmission in my 1979. I am trying to pickup any info. on this specific type of transmission, anything I can find , or anything that any CAC member can tell me about this type would be APPRECIATED.

are you sure it is not a 700R4 that is a GM 4 speed OD trans used in many GM vehicles. a Harley Trans would not work the layout is different.

ps I don't think Harleys have reverse.

Thanks for the note....Bought the car a year ago..Previous owner indicated a 700 harley tranny. This is an automatic as well, so I am only going on what the previous owner has given me. (sigh)..

if its a 4 speed auto it is most likely a 700R4 a very common and a good swap into a C3

Agree it's probably a 700 or 200 GM 4 speed auto ... definately NOT a Harley trans.

Seem to recall Harley did offer reverse in a few trans ... MANY decades ago ... standard for 45" trikes/servicars and option on some Big Twins ... pattern: RN123.

Harley did make a tranny with a reverse. It was used in the 3 wheel flatheads. Most were used as metermaid bikes and delivery type vehicles. I often debated trying to mate one to one of the many Harleys I owned when I would forget that I was running a sidecar and parked on a downhill incline. The only problem was they were only a 3 speeds forward with reverse.
