Default motor rebuild history advice

My 67 coupe w/ 54,000 miles is in very nice shape for not having a body off restoration. The engine looks pretty nice but is there an easy way to determine if it has been rebuilt so I would'nt have to use lead additive.I dont have any prior owner history. Thank you all again.. Jim

Jim, Don't worry about it. Unless you are going to subject your engine to heavy loads for extended periods, like towing or racing, you will never see any exhaust valve recession or more than normal wear in the life of your engine.

If you must know see if a previous owner has the machine shop bill for the head work. It will list the valve seat replacement if it was done. Both parts and labor would be listed. With the low miles on your car it's also very likely that the engine has never been apart.

Other than that and if the previouse owner don't know you would have to pull off a head to physically inspect it.

Tom
