Default Hi am new here and a new owner!

I just picked up a 85 vette.. This is my second vette. I had a 74 10 years ago.
anyway i would like to know if anyone has any good places to find aftermarket hoods that are not sky high.. It seems everyone wants a arm and leg for a c4 hood when yet you can get a c5 for so cheap.
thanks in advance.

Welcome to I don't have an answer for ya, I'm just the self appointed official greeter

But I think you'll get some other responses. Feel free to ask any other questions you might have. I haven't seen much posted on this one, but we'll see.

My only guess would be since the C4 hood is basically the entire front of the car, as to the C5 it is just basically a hood. Welcome to the site by the way, nice to get another C4 guy here.

Greetings and Welcome. Glad to have you back amongst the Corvette community. I have heard that the C4 hoods are some of the most expensive because of how large they are. Unlike the C3's where it is just a center section you have the entire front end going up in the air. As Moonunit said, I am sure someone with more C4 knowledge will come along. Just sit back and enjoy the many features of the CAC.

Welcome to CAC. How about scrap yards? A Corvette with a rear end collision might have the hood you are looking for. Just and idea.

Cheers,

Selim

Welcome aboard. There is a new Corvette recycling* yard on the MS Gulf Coast with good prices. Rain knows all about it. You can probably find him over on the C5 forum now that he is a 2 Vette guy or in the lounge.

*I can’t believe that I said recycling instead of JUNK.

I think that place may be called Dino's Corvette Salvage.

Are you looking for stock or custom for some reason?

Welcome to CAC!

I am sure you will find the answer to your hood question. I know that the C4 hood is quite large because the fenders are included.

With the number of C4s that were sold, one would think that the price could be competitive. I would suggest that you dicker with whoever has a hood. I am sure you know that! But, that is my specialty: stating the obvious!
