Default Battery cut-off question

I've heard it said that battery cut-off switches should be installed on the negative side of the battery.

True?

Why not on the positive?

True,

You should always disconnect the grounded because that disconnects the battery from the car. By disconnecting the negative you isolated the battery. If you hit the positive it will not short out the car, because there is no circut.
Hope that makes sense....
