Can someone tell me with 3.54 gears at 60 mph what their motor is turning??? This should give a good bang for the buck for the 1/4 mile over my 2.97.

There's more to it than just the gear ratio of the rear end. You'll have to take into consideration the tire size (overall diameter) and the final drive gear ratio in the transmission (overdrive vs. one-to-one).

Thanks Ken

Let's not make a simple question difficult. The car is an automatic 1993 LT1 with stock wheel and tire size. Has anyone tried 3.54 gears and if so what rpm does it turn at 60 mph.

Just take whatever your car turns at 60 and multiply by (3.54/2.59) and that's what your car would turn at 60 with 3.54s.

With the A4 3rd gear and 2.59 is roughly the same as 4th and 3.54.

Er, you have 2.97? then multiply by 3.54/2.97 instead and ignore the last part. What kind of car do you have that has 2.97?

Mines an 84, so the tires are a different size, but 1800 in overdrive at 60 mph.

Thanks, that doesn't sound to bad at all for cruising. Do you have any before and after 1/4 mile times????
