My Corvette(s):
Default 03 vs 04 help please

My last Corvette was a 71 and my auto pasion the last 10 years or so is 4th gen Formulas. From the Formulas I have a little knowledge of Gen 3 motors but other than that I am clueless on the Corvette. I am thinking of re-entry with an 03 or 04 ZO6 and I would like to know the differences. Historically I have found the last year brings some subtleties so that is what I am curious about.
Thanks for the help

Willie1le:

Welcome to the Corvette Action Center. An 03 or 04 Z06- nice choice!

There are very few differences between the two years in the Z06 model, unless you get the 04 Commemorative Edition with the carbon fiber hood.

Go have a look in the Tech Center- Model Center for the Z06. Click here. There's lots of good info there.

Shock valving was the big improvement for the '04 Z. The '03 was the 50th anniversary model, and it got specific C5 emblems (grey in color) that said so. I'd look for the best deal, and go for either one. Good luck with your search!!

BTW: You're gonna LOVE the Z!

Shock valving for '04 was revised, read the CAC review on the '04 Z06 for more info. I have an '04 Z06 that I bought it November and even on the crappy rough roads we have in Missouri the car sticks to the road like glue and rides amazingly well for as good as it handles. I traded in an '01 Camaro SS and when pushing the Z06 hard over the same rough winding two lane roads that I was driving the SS on, the Z06 is way more composed and forgiving, as well as a h*ll of a lot quicker.
