How many different generations of Corvettes have you actually got behind the wheel and taken for a spin? And I don't mean sitting in it as a passenger.

I have owned 2 1978's and 1 1984. I have never driven a C1, C2, C5 or C6... so two for me.

My first was a C1 I currently have a C3 and C5 I voted 3 but I drove several C2s a long time ago. I had a chance to drive a C6 but turned it down; I don't like driving something unless I can buy it.

Two for me, too.
My own 78 and a co-worker's C4 in Washington. I didn't care for getting in and out of it, it was difficult for me either as a passenger or as the driver.

I must admit I have never driven any Corvette other than the two that I own. I have really never known anyone that had one that they wanted to share. I don't blame them.

I have driven three C4's, one 02 Z06, and plenty of C3's, which include a 71, and a 75, and I think a 76.

Of course, I think I've driven a C4 :L, but I know I've driven Hal's (Toy4Hal) '62:

And Nikki's C5 when I was in Florida in '02:

But I still have not driven a Shark, nor a mid-year Sting Ray. :(

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. I have had the pleasure of driving all six generations. Never owned a C1 but have had the wheel on a 54,56,and a 62. I have a 67 coupe and have driven a 65 and a 66. Driven lots of C3s. A 69,73,77,78,79,and a 82. Been through lots of C4s too, 84,86,89,92,93 and 96. Had a 98 and now have an 03 AE. Just got to check out the C6 which really is another step up in the Corvette evolution. Can't wait to try the new Z06.

I've only driven two, mine, and my cousins '77. Both 4-speeds. I've had rides in C2's and C5's, but I've never even been in a C1 or C4.

I drove a 1961. It was my ex bro- in law. It was a nice car, but hard to drive and uncomfortable. I have a shark and have owned a C4. I think a C5 and C6 is in the ownership realm although I haven' t driven one.

I've driven a 60, 72, 73, 74, 75, 76, 77, 80 and a 98. I've rode in a 63, 67 and an 89 in addition to the ones I've driven. The one I liked the best was the 72, with the 98 coming in a close second. Each generation had it's own coolness factor. I'm looking forward to driving a C6 in the near future. I have a neighbor that has more money than sense and he's currently looking at C6's. He likes to throw me the keys on a regular basis, so lucky me.

Add another to my list. This weekend I drove a 61 roadster. It is red and white. It was awesome. It was a 4 sp of course, and was a blast to drive. I do have to say though, not something you would drive every day. Nevertheless, I certainly could handle taking it out on the weekends. So as it stands, I have driven 4 different generations.

I own and drive a 1989 roadster. I've driven a '75 coupe that I almost bought before noticing a hairline stress fracture in the front fiberglass. I didn't have extra money to put into the car and I couldn't live with the crack so I passed on the car. I've also driven a 1998 coupe which was on loan to me for a few days.

Out of the 3 generations, I like the looks of the C4 the best but the handling and performance of the C5.

Back in the 70s a girl I dated had a '59. Blue/white as I remember. 283 P-glide. One time, there was a C1 I drove about which i was doing an artlcle up in South Dakota.

I owned a 63 conv. 327/340 white/red/white. I also had a 65 which was a race car.

I own and drive the cars listed at left.

I've driven several C6es incl. VIN 00001 which is covered in an article eleshwere on CAC.

Hib,
Just curious. Which of the cars you own is your favorite? I'm quite sure they're all unique, and special to you in their own way, but which one could you not do without?

C1 1960 10 or 12 times.

C2 1963 6 years 1000 times

C3 1970 a few times.

C4 1996 this morning and 100 times before.

C5 2003 a month ago once.

C6 soon.

I'd never driven a vette until I bought the '63 and man it was ALL OVER.

Four for me, all but the first and the latest. I'll have to say they've gotten better (not better looking necessarily, but better--63 to 67 Corvettes still make my heart flutter! :D) with each generation. Andy

Dude...that last sentance...man, that that pin me down.

I'd have to say if I was forced to sell 2 of the 3, I'd keep the ZR1, mainly because of it's top speed of 185 or so.

I've only owned a 72 & now my 90 so it's only two. Actually more like one & a half because I just got my 90 & it's winter here in NYS.:cry I don't think 59 miles counts as a driving experience! The evolution of the car is spellbinding. Even after only a short drive I can 'feel' the differences between my 72 & my 90. I wonder what a C5 & C6 feel like? I would guess each would be quite a step up from the previous generations. Tom

Only 2 for me, C4 and C5. Own a C4, drove several while I was looking to buy and also my brother-in-law's 86.

As for C5--drove my brother's vert along PCH in 1999 up to 140mph. Also, I've driven a few I considered buying but never bite on the deals.

All generations owned and driven, never a garage queen. Putting new brakes and rear suspension on the 72 right now or I would have that out driving it also. Stopped at Mid America Motorworks on my way to St Louis and tried to get a cat back system for the 05 and they didn’t have any. Bummer. Time to make my own.

Owned only one so far, a 71.

First one I drove was a modded 74 BB. Took 14 years to get behind the wheel of another but since then - 66 427, 77, 82, 85 (shook a tooth loose), 2 88's, 93 Callaway SNAT:D, 95, 96 LT4 CE, 98, 2000. Still looking for someone to hand me the keys to a solid axle;) and I'm sure a C6 will happen. I guess I just have an easily trusted face. :crazy

The CAC rocks! Of all of those cars listed, 7 belonged to CAC members at the time.
