My Corvette(s):
1996 LT4 Coupe Artic White
Default 1968 Corvette what is it worth

I have a chance to buy a 68 corvette coupe. VIN 194378$421003 The engine is 427cu. 400HP three 2 barrel carbs. The engine numbers do not match. CE963638 is the engine s/n # The color is Corvette Bronze with tobacco interior. The car would make a good driver but the engine may not run. The plugs are all out and the owner has had it 2 years in that condition. The car is 4 speed with air and power windows. The side pipes are not original. The seats I think have had inserts in them. The carpet is in good condition. There is no rust around the windshield frame. There is no an air cleaner on the engine. A friend looked at the car and told me this information. I will try to get over in a couple days to look at the car and will take some pictures that may help determine what is a fair price. What would it be worth? I would like to make a driver out of the car. Thanks Baju

6k-8k is my best guess without seeing it, if it runs. Less if there are cracks in the paint near the corners where the front of hood meet the lights. I've seen alot of that on 68's. I think they beefed that fiberglass part up in later years.

This is my wag at it without looking at any kelly blue book numbers or doing any real research.

30k for a perfect 68 #'s matching BB coupe
minus - 10k for not #'s match
minus - 6k for paint
minus - 4k for rust
minus - 2k for interior
minus - 2k for not running

I would buy it and spend like 20k making it the resto-rod it should be.

That is a very rare color combo if they are the original colors.If it is a original big block car the value could be anywhere from 8-13k....JERRY

I have a 68 vert, radio delete, small block, #'s matching, 4 spd. air that I would probably value at 16,000.
Not sure what the non #'s matching does to the value but the car can't be worth 15k.
