Another chrome question.

The only remaining weak links regarding the chrome on my '60 are the spears and the license plate light housings. The spears are simple enough but regarding the license plate lights, how do I go about getting them rechromed? It looks like the ferrous metal portion of each piece was rivetted in and that it holds the glass in. Should I drill them out and put them back in with some self tapping screws after the rechroming? Replacements can be had for $90-$100 a pair but I've heard that they don't always hold up well as they are more prone to pitting than the originals or rechromed originals would be. I'm assuming mine are original though I'm not even sure of that. Is there a definitive way to tell?

I don't think the license plate light housing was chromed. Painted silver.

They are chrome as pictured. I'm going to take them to the chrome shop with the bumper and see what the plater has to say about them.

I dropped the bumper and the license plate housings off today at a replaters shop. I'll get them back in the first week of February. Regarding the housings, it will cost $85 to drill them out, remove the glass lenses, replate and reassemble. Slightly less than what repros would cost. The fellow told me a lot of guys buy repros and bring them to him brand new for replating. Done deal, here ya go! He said he'd do the bumper for $325.
