Default Re Chrome Question

Does an estimate of $325-$400 sound high for rechroming a '60 Corvette right rear bumper that's in good shape?

I would go to my local library and find a copy of Hemmings motor news....then look up platers ........I have had some plating don at a place in anison, AL they did a good job and were resonable....when you plate the bumper ,, you might want to have both plated at the same time.....or they will not look good....one will have more shine than the other..
Just my thoughts

Terry

I can tell you I was quoted $1500.00 for Rechroming the below listed parts

Front left and right bumper, and center bumper section

Rear left and right bumper and the plate surround,

Front left and right windsheild post,s

Left and right door post.

Mine are all straight but dull, and have minor pitting

I don't know about pricing, but I've heard of a place just outside of Philly that does chroming - now if I can only try to remember the name of it for you to check them out.........

Terry - If the bumper just needs replating - call Frankford Plating in Phila. 215-288-4518.

If the bumper also needs work I would suggest Charger Metal Works - Jerry Martin is the owner 215-289-9227 also Phila. Jerry repaired a knock off spinner that was damaged on removal -- dont ask -- He did an excellent job. He reworks the metal and then hand carrys it over to Frankford for plating.

good luck

Thanks for all of the replies. Actually I was already working with the advertisers in Hemmings but had no feel for what a fair price would be. I talked to the folks at Frankford as John suggested and I think I will go with them. Without seeing it, the fellow there told me he thought it would be around $300. Sounds better than $325-$400. It's close enough to me that I can drop the piece off and I always prefer doing that as opposed to being an anonymous mail order customer. I appreciate all of the advice. I'm only going to do one side because both sides shine like new money but the right one has been scratched by the previous owner.
