Default Does your C4 have this....?

I dont know why I haven't said anything before I guess it just never came to mind. When I was replacing the third brake light a few years back, I took the gas filler door off by removing the four phillips head screws. Under it I found a date, and directly below that was a number. I assume maybe this was a critical date during the production process? Does anybody else have this type of thing?

It's just a part number and/or date. Nothing special there.

Are they different for each car? I figured the date to be nothing special, but mine has the number 2 on it. Didn't think that would be a logical part number.

Maybe the "2" signifies a shift number?

what would it be a part number of, and why would they have a date? I think the 1,070 means that is the 1,070 Corvette in 86 and it was rolled off the line on the fourth month and the first day of 86 which would be April 1st. I will have to take mine off tomorrow and see what it is.

I would imagine that the 2 is probably second shift. I could find out from the NCM what date my car rolled off the line cant I. What makes me think the 1070 might not be the build number because the last digits of my vin are 2246. I plan on getting the build sheet, and what else is available.

That is possible, but that would mean that would mean that the ratio of verts to coupes is 50/50

Well I am going to post this to put it back on top one more time. With the amount of views I doubt anybody will post. However does anybody have any suggestions, and I mean any suggestions for a course of action to find out about this. I figured a search on the net, but who knows.

Thanks

Craig
