My Corvette(s):
2004 WHITE CONVERT
Default structural integrety Z06/C5 convert?

I seem to recall reading the Z06 can take the additional hp over the convertible due to the fact the coupe has better structural integrety. "So my question is "are you hurting the frame on a convertible if you up the hp such as supercharging etc. I see a lot of people doing that and wonder if any long term effects showing up. Probably a bad comparison however but I know the BMW Z3s started having a lot of frame cracking when the 315 hp models came out with basically the same body frame. Thanks in advance for any replies

If GM needs the structure of the top on the car you can bet that you are about to damage the normal "non-reinforced" 'vert!!!

The new Z06-c6 is TOP ON. No 'vert!

-Bill.

I had an older '71 and over 100,000mi. that car started to wiggle. No mods but lots of fast driving. I'm sure the newer 'verts are better, but they need the full structure of the car shell.
