Default remove fender flares

Hi all, hope everybody had a fine christmas and have a happy new year. I put fender flares on this summer and did a poor job. They are stuck on with 3m tape and I would like to remove them and perhaps have a body shop do the job. I am not sure if I can just rip them off or perhaps heat them up and then pry them off. I do not want to damage the flares or the corvette bodywork. Any ideas on this, thank you.

If you are patient you can remove them using a hair dryer. Heat the area either from the front or back. Once the 3m tape has warmed, you should be able to remove the flares. You can also do this...once the area is warm, take a piece of fishing line or nylon thread and slide it between the flares and the fender. Use a "sawing' action to move the line between the flare and the fender. Should come right off.

On some finishes, I've used a plastic putty knife to work the piece loose. But I'm not certain how that would work with the fiberglass fenders.

No sense paying to have it done...a body shop will do essentially the same thing.

Once the piece is removed, 3m makes an adhesive remover or you can use a product like goo-gone. Again, not certain how either of those would work on fiberglass so you may want to check the label or wait for other replies.

Happy New Year
Norm

Thank you, the fishing line is a great idea will try that. The problem I had was getting the flares to fit flush with the body work. I think a body shop would do a better job. The reason for the flares are the 315/35/17 tires felt they may stick out a little.

They don't stick out on mine. Good luck!
